When things start disappearing, the thefts are blamed on 'outsiders' and Christy is blamed for starting up the road. She also learns the Dr Feran can only offer her half of her salary, if she stays to teach in Cutter Gap after her contract is up. She takes this to mean that Dr Feran dislikes her and is trying to get rid of her. To top it all off, David takes back his proposal of marriage, as he can't take her feelings for Neil any longer. Christy is hurt by everything and makes plans to leave Cutter Gap. Meanwhile a woman crash lands her plane in Cutter Gap, and the men are all over her, especially Neil. He admits he is captivated by her, and even kisses her. When Christy sees them together, he insists that nothing happened....
