A Repair to Remember features DeWalt, Black & Decker and Stanley tools
After 7 years in a corset on CBC's Road to Avonlea, Mag Ruffman is tickled to be wielding power tools and talking about studs, caulk and damp basements as host of A Repair to Remember on WTN. In addition to being host and writer, Mag also acted as co-producer for A Repair to Remember's new season.
Mag's comedy background provides surprising relief in the staid world of do-it-yourself television. Repairs are performed live and are un-rehearsed. And while the editing process could be used to give the impression that things went smoothly, most of the difficulties are left in precisely for the viewer's benefit; when someone can see that everything doesn't necessarily go perfectly, it helps her to have realistic expectations about her own repairs. It also helps to build problem-solving skills. Mag is generally having a good time, and it's contagious enough to make many viewers want to attempt their own home repairs.
Viewers may remember a more subdued Ruffman as the beloved "Olivia" on the internationally acclaimed series Road to Avonlea, now in re-runs on CBC daily at 4:00pm.
