"True Confessions"

In "True Confessions" Avonlea meets their new minister, Reverend Fitzsimmons. Reverend Fitzsimmons startles and deafens the congregation with his voice! Rachel Lynde begins to bring cotton for her ears, that it is so bad. Alec leaves The Reverend with some good advice, which tones him down some and lets the church see his true potential.
Also, Hetty and Olivia give Janet a very big... and very ugly comb, that once belonged to their Great GranMama. The Kings see the comb as a symbol of courage and bravery and are hurt when Janet doesn't wear it.
Felicity finds the comb beautiful, and in her attempts to be viewed as a young woman, decides to wear it to impress her friends. When she chases Felix for ruining her 'meeting' she drops the comb and looses it. Afraid to tell her parents, she is convinced that she will be punished by the heavens for lying. Felix frightens his sister even more by tricking her into believing that the world is ending.
Peg Bowen tells the children that
the world will end when the moon disappears,
knowing that a lunar eclipse is coming the following night, to teach Felicity to tell the truth.
Felix, Felicity and Cecily are so scared that they confess all their wrongs, when the moon appears back in the sky they think that they have set things right by confessing their sins.
Janet who thought that she herself had lost the comb,
spends her money to buy a look a like comb. She wears the comb to a dedication at the church and Hetty, Olivia, and Alec finally see how horribly ugly the comb really is.
