How Kissing Was Discovered

The entire town cheers on Alec King, the resident cricket champion, as he competes in the annual cricket match, Felicity develops a crush on one of the visiting team's players, and Felix and Sara meet Gus Pike, a seafaring boy who is seeking work.

Aunt Hetty's Ordeal

Hetty begins a recruiting campaign to boost Avonlea school enrollment. She solicits cannery worker Gus Pike as one of her new students, but his desire to learn is obstructed by his work schedule and Hetty's views on inappropriate pastimes. Eventually, both teacher and student come to understand and respect one another.

Of Corsets and Secrets and True True Love

Two orphans, Davey and Dora, arrive at Green Gables and puts a strain on Marilla's friendship with Rachel. Marilla is torn between her loyalty to her friend and love for the two children.

Old Quarrels, Old Love

The residents of Rose Cottage and Green Gables attend a wedding and are surprised by the appearance of Romney Penhallow, Hetty King's ex-beau. They resume their former relationship only to discover they are both as argumentative as they were in their youth.

May the Best Man Win

Olivia King's former beau, Edwin Clark, arrives in Avonlea to renew his wooing of Olivia, and with Hetty's approval. Unfortunately, Jasper Dale also loves Olivia and is persuaded by Sara to propose to Olivia. When a small boy is rescued from a well, she learns more about both mens' character, allowing her to make the right choice.

Family Rivalry

Andrew King is excited when he learns his father, Roger King, will be returning from a Brazilian geological expedition. Roger and, his brother, Alec's relationship is strained when Roger discovers Alec loaned their savings to a near-bankrupt neighbor.

Sea Ghost

Ezekial Crane, a retired recluse and the lighthouse attendant, gives Gus Pike a job at the lighthouse. Gus' father, a fugitive from justice, arrives to take Gus away from Avonlea. When the townsfolk march on the lighthouse, Abe takes Gus hostage.

All That Glitters

When Sara finds a gold coin on the beach, Ezekiel Crane tells her that the island is full of buried pirate treasure. Word spreads quickly, and pretty soon everyone in town is looking for buried treasure. Ezekiel confides in Gus Pike that he knows where real treasure is located, but an old shipmate is also seeking it out.

Dreamer of Dreams

Sara and her cousins create their own newspaper, including an advice column. She listens to the town gossip and publishes it as thinly disguised stories. When Sara's stories are accidently mixed with Olivia's real newspaper articles, the town is in an uproar, until Japer Dale comes to her rescue in order to clear Olivia's name.

It's Just a Stage

All of Avonlea gets excited when Sara's cousin, the world-famous leading lady of theatre, Pigeon Plumtree comes to town. Local farmer, Pat Frewen, falls in love with Pigeon and proposes to her. Pigeon embarrasses Pat in front of others and Sara sees her cousin for what she really is.

A Mother's Love

Felicity and Sally Potts make fun of Sara for submitting an essay about Aunt Hetty to a "Mother of the Year" contest. Sara schemes with Felix to get revenge and contrives a scheme that involves Felicity and Sally being born on the same day by the same doctor. Chaos and confusion ensues in both the King and Potts households.

Misfits and Miracles

Archie Gillis, the self-appointed coach of the Avonlea Avengers hockey team, excludes many who want to join the team. Alec King accepts a challenge by Archie and forms a team from the excluded "misfits." When Alec is injured and unable to coach, the job falls to Hetty and Miss Stacey to take on the Avengers.
