"Felix dear, it's time for you to get out of bed!! You know that today
is
the Valentines party at the hotel, and Mr. Tremayne wanted you to be
there early. So hop to it!!" Said a cheerful Janet King.
"I'm coming Mother. Have you seen my tie anywhere? I
can't seem to find it." Felix asked.
"It should be on top of the dresser beside you're
socks that I just folded."
"Oh here it is"
"Where did you find it?"
"On Digger's neck, Cecily probably put it there to
make him look nice." Felix said teasing Cecily.
"Oh Felix stuff your mouth with your food before I put
it in your lap." Cecily replied back as they got to the table.
"Felix will you pray for our food this morning?" Alec
asked.
"Sure," They all bowed they're heads as Felix prayed:
“Dear heavenly father, we thank you for this food
you've provided for us and please help Felicity’s
pregnancy.
Let your will be
done. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
As soon as they were done eating, Felix ran outside
and jumped onto his bike, and as fast as he could rode
to the White Sands. As soon as he got there, he got
off his bike, straightened his bow tie, and walked
into the hotel.
When he got inside, Mr. Tremayne already had a list of
things for him to do to decorate for the Valentine's
Day party.
Felix was kept busy all morning, and then at lunch
time, he went outside to get some fresh air. Felix was
so excited about the Valentine's Day party! He had
invited Izzy, and she had agreed to come!
He then heard a familiar voice behind him that said
"Well if it isn't Master King, Tell me Felix, why are
you daydreaming
on
my time?!" It was Mr. Tremayne.
"Well...um...sir" Felix stammered, "I was well as you
said daydreaming
and I am very sorry it won't happen again!"
"So ya got Izzy on your mind, don't ya?"
"Yes sir."
"Don't worry son, it happens to the best of us. Women
have that kind of effect on us”
“Well, if you don't mind sir, I'll get back to work
now!”
“Ya got a good head on your shoulders Felix, I bet
that in a years
time…well never mind. Off to work with you now.”
Felix went back to work, but his mind kept on drifting
off to thinking about Izzy. He couldn't help thinking
about her, he thought she was so perfect! He couldn't
wait until the next evening when she would be arriving.
Felix walked off to where the other guys working at
the hotel were decorating the dining room. He saw
Elbert hanging red hearts up, and went over to him,
Elbert said "Hey Felix, I have something for you!" So
Felix went over to him and Elbert handed him one of
the hearts, Felix had a puzzled look on his face, and
then Elbert said "Look at it!", so Felix looked at it,
and read "Felix loves Izzy!", Felix's face turned red,
and Elbert just laughed.
"Come on Elbert, I can tease you about a few girls
that I know that you
swoon over!!"
"Alright Felix ya got me there. But remember when I told you how I took
Booth and Sara to that Acadian lady birthday party?
Well this years she 107 Well her family is
having another shindig and I was wondering if you and
Izzy would like to come with me and Cecily."
"Cecily actually took you up on your offer? I know that you've been
asking her to court you for about a month. But I didn't know that she
would 'give in' to you that soon! I thought that she
would uphold another month! Wow, my little Sis is growing up."
"Well do you think that you and Izzy would like going?"
"I'd love to go, but I'll talk it over with Iz." Sure as long as I know
your answer by tonight. The party is tomorrow. And I have to let my
friend know that your coming or we may not have enough food. The way
you've been eating after you got back after the war."
" I can't believe that the guy that I was carrying wasn't you!! I mean
we all thought that you had been blown to pieces. Until
you showed up that day. And told us how I had picked up the wrong guy
and
the medic, had dragged you back into the pit. And saved your life.
That war changed the both of us didn't it?"
"It sure did."
"Oh, I'm so glad you're alive! Even if you do..tease
me about Izzy." And Felix smiled. He didn't care that
much that Elbert teased him, because he was so glad
about the Valentine's party two days from that evening, and that his
Izzy would be there with him.
Felix remembered back to the day the Pettibones came
to Avonlea, and Izzy came to school, he loved her ever
since he first saw her. Even though he was to shy to
say so.
Felix remembered that Felicity and Gus's relationship
started like that, too. Gus loved Felicity the first
time he saw her! And now they were married, and
Felicity was going to be a mother in about 2 months!
Felix was excited about soon being an uncle.
"Felix, there's a phone call for you. It's a girl and she sounds mighty
pretty." Elbert said.
"Thanks Elbert." Felix said and her then picked up the receiver,
"Hello."
"Hi is this Felix?"
"Izzy is that you?"
"Why of course it's me. Remember when I told you that I was coming in
tomorrow from Halifax? Well father changed his plans and I'm coming in
today. Actually I'm here at the train station right now, could you come
pick me up?! I really don't want to walk all the way to the Hotel in a
foot of snow. Even though I am in pants."
"Sure Iz, I'll be there once my shift ends. Which is in about 5 minutes
do you think you can wait that long?"
"I'll be fine Felix, I'm not a porcelain doll. There's a fireplace here
at the station so I'll be fine. I'll see you in about 15 minutes. Bye!"
"Bye Iz."
"So who was it Felix? She sure sounded pretty!" Elbert said with a
teasing look in his eyes.
"Well I guess you'll never know who the 'pretty lady' was Elbert."
Felix
said and continued, " I've got to go pick up someone at the train
station. Do you think that you can stay here for my last 5 minutes?"
"Sure I can do that. I'll see you tomorrow Felix."
"Bye" and after getting his coat, Felix was out the door.
