A Simple Faith
by Marguerite Morris

sometimes a simple faith
isn't really simple at all

it starts out with a whisper
a voice so still and small

that many overlook it
think nothing of it at all

but that tiny stirring deep within
can grow to fill a spacious hall

can move a mountain, move a heart
plant a seed, bring down a wall

it fills a child full of strength
to speak with tongue of angels
and the meek to take a stand

it blazes forth with summer's heat
or springtime's gentle zephyr sweet
when winter's pall lies across the land

to the mighty, it brings the fall

sometimes a simple faith
isn't really simple at all
