Episode Guide
Season One
#1 - "The Journey Begins"
Sara's father returns to Montreal to find himself under house arrest for embezzlement (for which he was innocent). To save Sara from his shame, he sends her to Avonlea to stay with her mother's family. Sara's Nanny Louisa comes with her, thinking that they will both be staying with Alec and his family. As there is no room, they are told they will be staying at Rose Cottage. Hetty has other plans and sends Louisa on her way, making an enemy of Sara. She eventually earns her trust, if not her love. Sara's father tells her she can come home, but she chooses to stay.
#2 - "The Story Girl Earns Her Name"
With Sara's help, a man escapes with the ticket sales from a Magic Lantern Show, which was supposed to go to get new books for the school library. Determined to make amends, Sara convinces Jasper Dale, The Awkward Man, to help her put on another show. At first it seemed as if the show was a success, but Sally Potts teases Jasper, he bumps the lantern to the ground and the place erupts in flames. All the proceeds have to go to the repairs. But they have a surprise benefactor who donates a large sum of money to build a whole new library.
#3 - "The Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's"
Sara, Felix, Felicity and Cecily went to Alexander Abraham's to warn his hired hand that Mrs. Lynde was coming to see why he hasn't been in Sunday School. On a dare from Felicity, Sara goes into the house through an upstairs window, with Felix right behind her as he tries to help her down. Meanwhile, Rachel gets there and barges in, demanding to know where the boy is. The doctor then shows up and places them all under quarantine, as they've been exposed to small pox. Both Alexander and Felix get sick, and are nursed back to health by Rachel and Sara.
#4 - "The Materialization of Duncan McTavish"
During the sewing circle, Marilla Cuthbert makes up a beau to the other women when they bring up her lack of them. Much to her dismay, there turns out to be a real 'Duncan McTavish' who is outraged when he finds himself the center of gossip. Sara, ever believing in Marilla's honesty tries to set things right, but only manages in making Duncan angry and he heads to Green Gables to confront Marilla. She tells him why she made the story up, and they conspire together to give Avonlea something to talk about.

#5 - "Song in the Night"
(RTA - "Old Lady Lloyd")
Sara and her cousins trespass onto the property of Old Lady Lloyd, and Felix ends up breaking a window. During their getaway, Sara falls and hurts her leg. Miss Lloyd takes her into her house, all the while telling her of the "curse". Sara escapes, but her curiosity gets the better of her. During her snooping around, Sara learns That Miss Lloyd is somehow connected to Olivia's friend, Sylvia Gray. She turns out to be the daughter of Miss Lloyd's ex-beau. Miss Lloyd turns to her cousin to help Sylvia reach her dream of becoming a singer.
In this episode it states that the Lloyd family was Avonlea's founding family. In "Heirs and Graces" it states that the Wards are the founding family...Hmmmmmm
#6 - "Proof of the Pudding"
When the adults are away, the children will play... fight is more like it! Felicity, determined to prove she is a better homemaker than her mother, orders everyone around. She is consumed by jealousy over Sara's new satin shoes, and tricks her into the mud. Let the games begin! After much quarreling, the kids make up and Sara and Felicity become friends.
#7 - "Conversions"
A visiting missionary tries to get Peg Bowan into church, while Sara tries to do the same with Peter Craig. The other kids are cruel to Peter, because he is a hired hand. Then Edward Ray becomes sick with the influenza and Peter delivers some medicine from Peg Bowan that saves him. When Peter becomes ill too, the kids go to Peg to ask for some more medicine. Peter recovers and is welcomed into the family with his own tree in the King Orchard.

#8 - Aunt Abigail's Beau"
Janet's sister, Abigail, is visited by Malcolm MacEwan, an old beau. He had been driven away by her father and told to come back when he had made his fortune. He has now returned from the gold fields, very rich indeed. Abigail accepts his proposal of marriage, but begins to have second thoughts as she views her messy home, and becomes embarrassed by his public attention. But when she hears he's leaving Avonlea, she races to catch the stagecoach and beg him to stay.
#9 - "Malcolm and the Baby"
Malcolm and Abigail return from their honeymoon with Malcolm wanting a baby. Abigail is determined that she is too old, and refuses to even consider it. Meanwhile, one of Hetty's student teachers dies, leaving behind a baby. A fight erupts between Hetty and Rachel (a relative of the baby) as who should get custody of the baby. Sara and Felicity find the baby and take it, putting it on Abigail's doorstep. Abigail becomes quite attached, and is upset when she has to return 'Lucky' to Rachel. In an attempt to spy on Rachel, Hetty and Rachel make up after a 30 year war, and Rachel gives the baby back to Malcolm and Abigail.

#10 - "Felicity's Challenge"
Felicity bets her tiara against Sally Potts' gold locket that she can make Clemmie Ray popular at the Harvest Party. She is so determined to win, that she hurts Clemmie, almost losing a good friend. Felicity learns to accept people for who they are... at least for a while!
#11 - "The Witch of Avonlea"
It's time for the annual Spelling Bee, and Felix isn't doing so well. He learns the words, but draws a blank when Aunt Hetty gives him the 'look'. After being held after school, Felix takes off only to be lost in a storm and the woods. Peg Bowan finds him and takes him to her house. Upon learning of his dilemma, gives him a 'magic crystal' that helps him to spell any word. He wins the spelling bee in class, and is off to the competition, but has lost the crystal. He learns that he can spell on his own, and Peg is accepted by the King family.
#12 - "The Hope Chest of Arabella King"
A letter arrives that says that Arabella King is dead, and they are given the key to her hope chest that has been in the house for many years. The kids are disappointed when all they find are some clothes, her wedding dress and an old clock. Meanwhile, Olivia tries to get a job at the Avonlea Chronicle, and is given a trial period. Searching for a good story, she and Sara discover quite a thrilling story in some letters that Sara found in the false bottom of the chest. A treasure is discovered and returned, and Olivia gets her job.
#13 - "Nothing Endures but Change"
Sara's father, Blair, shows up unexpectedly to take Sara home. Though delighted to see her father, she is not ready to return to Montreal. Hetty, scared at the thought of losing Sara, starts a quarrel with Blair. Sara, determined to see them make up before she leaves, has the children hide her so that Blair and Hetty can 'unite in their love for her'. She ends up falling from the barn loft, breaking her leg and losing consciousness. Blair and Hetty resolve their fight, and Blair tells Sara she can stay in Avonlea for as long as she wants.
Season Two
#1 - "Sara's Homecoming"
After a 'firework mishap' at the General Store, Sara decides to return to Montreal. Upon her arrival, Blair is called to his warehouse on an emergency and is killed. They return to Avonlea as Blair wanted to be buried next to Ruth, Sara's mother. While Hetty and Louisa fight over who gets custody of Sara, she discovers a fortune teller, who pretends to talk to her father. Sara discovers their lie and is kidnapped. Alec finds Sara, and Louisa lets Sara stay in Avonlea.
I believe that they should have played "How Kissing was Discovered" before this episode. Dominion Day is July 1st, and the entry in Felicity's diary in "HKWD" was dated June 2nd (or 3rd).
#2 - "How Kissing Was Discovered"
Sara and Felix go to Felix's special fishing hole, and there they meet Gus Pike. He says he's looking for work, so Felix invites him home with him. Meanwhile, Felicity has gotten the 'love bug', and decided it's time to get her first kiss. She meets and falls for David, and sneaks to a dance to see him. In the end, it was Gus who gave her her first kiss. Janet discovers that she is pregnant.

#3 - "Aunt Hetty's Ordeal"
Hetty, out of pride, starts a campaign to get more kids in school. She goes to the cannery and gets Gus to attend. Meanwhile, Muriel Stacey, the new superintendent of schools, plans to come to Avonlea to check on the school. Hetty plans to have dinner for her at Rose Cottage the first night, but slips in the shower and hurts her back. Muriel stays on to substitute, much to Hetty despair. Muriel and the students plan a special tribute to Hetty at the Lieutenant Governors reception.
#4 - "Of Corsets and Secrets and True, True Love"
(RTA - Of Secrets and True, True Love)
A relative of Marilla's passes away and she takes on the responsibility of the Keith twins, Davey and Dora. Meanwhile, Sara and Olivia do an article on Rachel, and fall onto the story of an ex-flame of Rachel's. On top of that, Rachel is suffering from a bad toothache, that she thinks will be the death of her.
#5 - "Old Quarrels, Old Love"
Hetty's old beau from school, Romney Penhallow, shows up at a wedding in Avonlea. Although Hetty had swore she would never speak to him again, Romney is persistent, and they pick up where they left off. But Romney is terminally ill and leaves Avonlea again.
#6 - "May The Best Man Win"
An old beau of Olivia's, Edwin Clark, shows up in Avonlea, as his wife has died. Hetty had run him off years before, but now rethinks things, as he has come into money and she doesn't like Jasper Dale. Sara doesn't want Olivia to choose Edwin, but Olivia thinks that Jasper in a confirmed bachelor. Sara convinces Jasper to make his move and when both propose, Olivia makes the right choice.
#7 - "Family Rivalry"
Andrew's father, Roger King, comes to Avonlea to pick him up. Things are strained as Roger blames Alec for his bad leg. Roger tries to 'modernize' the farm, and is making plans to go back to Brazil and once again leave Andrew behind. A near fatal accident brings him around and he accepts a position at DelHouser and Andrew leaves Avonlea.
#8 - "Sea Ghost"
Captain Ezekial Crane takes Gus in, but is secretly in cahoots with Gus' father, Abe Pike. Gus is reluctantly willing to leave Avonlea with Abe, until he finds out that Abe stole Janet's wedding ring. Ezekial realizes that he made a mistake and tries to hide Gus, but Abe is too quick for them. Meanwhile, the town is convinced that Gus is part of a rum-running ring and heads to the lighthouse to arrest him. In the end, Abe falls into the sea and the town is convinced of Gus' innocence
#9 - "All That Glitters"
Hetty and Janet, Sara and Felicity, Rachel and the Reverend and Gus and Captain Crane all have 'Treasure Fever". Hetty and Janet are convinced that it's hidden on the King Farm, Rachel is convinced that it's buried in the church basement and Captain Crane holds half of a treasure map. There is another sailor in town, trying to steal Ezekial's half of the map, but Gus manages to see the other half of the map. Ezekial sends Gus on a wild goose chase, and finds the treasure. He gives Gus a ruby ring and leaves the lighthouse to him as he leaves Avonlea. Gus, Sara and Felicity realize that Ezekial found the treasure when they see that the ring has the same date as the map.
In this episode they say that the ruby ring is from the treasure that Ezekial found. But in "The Return Of Gus Pike" Gus' mother, Eliza, recognizes the ring that belonged to Captain Crane. So Ezekial must have had the ring a long time before finding the hidden treasure.
#10 - "Dreamer of Dreams"
Sara and Felicity make a newspaper on their own, just for fun. They add a "Madame X" advice column, using gossip they have heard around town. The stories get mixed up with Olivia's stories for the Avonlea Chronicle. They get printed and people are hurt. To top it off, the Chronicle is robbed and Olivia is blamed for leaving the door unlocked. Jasper comes up with an idea, and captures the thief, and Sara and Felicity apologies to Olivia.
#11 - "It's Just a Stage"
Sara's cousin, the world famous Pigeon Plumtree, comes to Avonlea and all are excited. Especially one Pat Frewen who misunderstands Sara, and believes Pigeon loves him. He proposes, Pigeon can't stop laughing and he risks losing the woman who really loves him. Pigeon, after a lecture from Sara, comes up with a plan to fix everything.
#12 - "A Mother's Love"
When Sara writes an essay about Hetty for the "Mother of the Year" contest, Felicity and Sally Potts are quite mean and tell her she's not qualified. Sara comes up with a plan for revenge. She writes a letter saying that Sally and Felicity were switched at birth. After mayhem has broken loose, Sara admits her deed and Felicity submits Sara's letter. Much to their surprise, Hetty wins.
#13 - "Misfits and Miracles"
Archie Gillis, coach of the Avonlea Avengers, won't let any of the smaller boys or women on the team. Alec accepts a bet from Archie and makes up a team from the 'leftovers'. With the help of Miss Stacey, they win the game. Janet gives birth to Daniel with Sara's help.
In "Family Rivalry" Andrew leaves Avonlea to be with his father. But in this episode he's back as if he never left, then we never see or hear about him again.
