title: Lighthouses of Northern PEI

East Point Lighthouse, 1998
in northeastern Prince Edaward Island. While Seema rested in the car, Amber and I took a guided tour of this lighthouse on a very foggy day near the end of our trip. The fog horn sounded every few minutes, while the light kept its vigil over the coast, creating an eerie atmousphere. Despite the clouds, we enjoyed the view, which, we are told, overlooks Cape Brenton Island on a clear day.

Cape Tryon
Originally located near the shoreline, Cape Tryon was moved and is now used as a private residence. This lighthouse, which emits a red beacon, has quite a few LMM-y connections. It's the inspiration for Captain Jim's lighthouse in Anne's House of Dreams. It was also filmed in both Anne of Avonlea and the first season of Road to Avonlea. Located near Park Corner, Cape Tryon Light is difficult to find. As a matter of fact, a couple I met in '96 nick named the lighthouse "Keep Tryin'."

Cove Head Lighthouse
This lighthouse is located in the Prince Edward Island National Park, near the Brackley Beach entrance. Its short stature is probably due to a higher elevation. Lovely vistas await you in the area surrounding the light.

North Rustico Lighthouse
Located in the center of the fishing village of North Rustico, this lighthouse makes a lovely subject surrounded by lobster traps. Photographed in June of 2000.
